Pushin' Tapes - Stevie G ( Ol Skool Hip Hop V1 )

Tapemasta - Once again, there's nothing to be said - Enjoy the tunes because we did when we was young !! Some of you can relate & believe me, you know what's up !!

Stevie G - Plenty of big tunes from the era that hip-hop often forgets; if it wasn't for these guys the music we love would never have developed. Many of these artists pioneered the genre and ended up broke or obscure, but the streets knew better. The likes of Run DMC, Salt n'Pepa and LL Cool J blew up as rap exploded, and later on Eric B and Rakim and a few more ushered in the new skool, but for a time, rap was an underground movement with a freshness and innocence that still sounds great today. I threw one or two early breaks on here too as it is impossible to measure the importance of rap without talking about the likes of Kraftwerk, Bob James, Chic, Grover Washington etc, but on future volumes i'll explore the breaks more. I've already done a James Brown documentary but the likes of the Godfather and George Clinton plus many more also deserve homage; this is gonna be the first volume of many Old Skool tributes. It is far from definitive and merely a snapshot of an era and some records that need to be heard by those who don't know! Also, note that there are plenty of fly girls in the mix too, i've always been a huge fan of females bustin' loose on the mic and there have been ladies at the forefront of rap since day one. Feel free to break out the lino and take it back to the days where just two turntables and a microphone could create musical magic that stands strong 30 years later.

Pushin Tapes - Stevie G ( A tribute to a musical genius )

Tapemasta - Here's another one for those grown & sexy crew on the internet !!

Stevie G - Here is a documentary I did recently about one of my favourite singers, songwriters and producers; Stevie Wonder

I've mainly let the music do the talking but it serves as a good intro and overview of his career!

An impossible task cutting the career of one of the greatest singers/producers/songwriters into less than an hour but i'm happy with the music I selected....

Pushin' Tapes - Supa V ( Live From The Basement )

Tapemasta: Alot of you really don't understand what we really represent on these mixtapes from the past !! I remember him doing a joint called " Straight Up & Down Rap feat DJ Supa V & DJ Quicksilva..Believe me, i got mixtapes !!

Though most may not call him "Super V." any more, former 80's mixtape Dj, now Musician & recording artist Victor Valente is back on the wheels of steel after 15 years to host his own internet radio mix show called "Live From The Basement" on blog talk radio.

Since disapearing from the hip hop scene in 1995, Victor Valente resurfaced in the underground hip hop Jazz scene as a saxophonist with his 2005 release "Off The Canvas" which featured hip hop jazz gems like "Surviving with the time", "Blue Funk" & his own rendition of Mc Lyte's 1989 classic "Cappuccino".

During the early 90's Victor's "Super V." mixtapes were sold at almost every tape spot through-out New York City beside other tape kings such as Ron G, S&S, Craig G, Kid Capri & Brucie B to name a few.

Today, Victor Valente works as a music publisher, licensing his material for radio & television broadcasting under his own label (Takeluma Recordings / Victor Valente Publishing).

Valente's upcoming radio show (Live From The Basement) is set to debut October 27th @ 3pm eastern time featuring Valente on the 1's & 2's cutting and mixing Old school to now school Funk, soul & Hip Hop.
